Can't read the receipt? Split it anyway

Just say how to split it. Receipteller reads the receipt and assigns each item to the right person.

Third night of the trip. Before heading back to the place you're staying, everyone stops at the supermarket to restock.

Tomorrow's breakfast is for everyone: bread, eggs, milk. Chillbae grabs a chocolate ice cream bar, Mellow a soda, Cozy a six-pack of beer, and you toss in a bag of chips.

The line is long, so someone says it without thinking: "Just pay together, we'll sort it out later."

You tap your card, and the register hands you a long receipt, covered in the local language, abbreviations, item names, and numbers.

That's when it hits you: paying together is easy. Splitting that one receipt back to each person is the hard part.

You can't read it, but you know how to split it

Receipts abroad are rarely friendly. Korean, Thai, abbreviated English, item names that look like codes. Even once it's scanned, you're not sure which line is what.

But you usually remember the split. Chillbae had the ice cream, Mellow the soda, Cozy the beer. The breakfast bread, eggs, and milk are for everyone.

You can't read the receipt, but you know how this bill should be split. That's where Receipteller starts.

How Receipteller works

Open Receipteller inside your trip, pick who's on this receipt, then write how to split it in your own words and snap a photo. Chillwari takes it from there.

Anything you don't mention splits evenly among the people you picked, and you're the default payer. So you don't have to spell out every line. Just be clear about what isn't shared by everyone.

Paying together takes a second. Splitting this one back up is the work.

Like telling a friend

No tapping through line by line. Just say the split in a sentence:

"Chillbae's chocolate ice cream, Mellow's soda, Cozy's beer, the chips are mine, the rest we share."

"Breakfast stuff we split evenly, the drinks are all Cozy's, two snacks are me and Chillbae."

"For the drugstore one: the face masks are No1's, the eye drops No2's, snacks for everyone."

If typing a friend's name feels awkward, call them No1, No2, No3. It just has to land. No need to make it a thing.

Don't know the item names? Receipteller finds them

Describe it in your own words. Even if the receipt is in a foreign language, abbreviated, or the names aren't what you'd normally say, Receipteller works out which item you mean.

Say "soda" and it looks for that drink on the receipt. Say "ice cream" and it looks for the frozen treat. And if a few could match, like a few different ice creams on the same receipt, it checks with you: which "ice cream" did you mean?

Needs your call: which 'ice cream' on the receipt did you mean
When more than one could match, Receipteller checks before it splits.

It doesn't split blind. It drafts first

Receipteller won't make you let go completely. It splits the line items the way you described first, showing who each one goes to and who owes what.

You just check: is this Chillbae's? is this shared? If something's off, fix it and save. The difference is you're not starting from a blank slate, tapping one item at a time.

Tax, service charge, and discounts get worked in too: a line discount goes back to that item, tax is spread across the items, and the service charge is split among everyone. No reaching for the calculator to do another round.

The per-person split: personal items to each person, shared items split evenly
Personal stays personal, shared is split. Check it, then save.
